With the natural and instinctive eye of a still photographer, Kachikis is a gifted technician - experimental at times, pure at others. He has shot dozens of music videos for many innovative artists including Elvis Costello, Eminem, Sean Lennon, and Aimee Mann. His stylistic flair can also be seen in countless commercials for many notable clients including Levis, Pepsi, MasterCard and Motorola, as well as on two acclaimed short films for Sony directed by Peggy Sirota and Jesse Dylan.

Known and admired for his natural-light photography and ability to quickly find attention-grabbing handheld compositions, the passion and playfulness of Kachikis' work is rooted in his lifelong love of photography. Kachikis graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1990 with a degree in Radio, Television and Film and English-Creative Writing. Kachikis moved to Los Angeles and soon started working in the world of commercials and music videos as a gaffer for noted cinematographers such as Joseph Yacoe, Peter Donahue, and Lance Acord. Soon Kachikis found himself working as lighting director for photography legend Herb Ritts. With a shooting career launched by one early opportunity with Spike Jonze, Kachikis has been in constant demand ever since.

His film and documentary work includes CHOCOLATE TOUR (dir. Spike Jonze), STEELY DAN IN CONCERT and the Sundance Film Festival short, JACKPOT, which he also directed. In 2007, Kachikis shot Sundance Film Festival dramatic competition entry AMERICAN SON for director Neil Abramson.
